Frequently Asked Questions
We have built the following list of FAQs based upon the most common questions we are asked, if you can not find the answers to your questions below, then please contact us info@plumber-training.com
Will I really be able to set up as a Plumber upon the completion of your Career Changer course?
Yes, during the Career Changer course we cover all the basics of plumbing theory, give you a vast amount of hands-on practical experience and hep to develop your business skills. Provided that you are motivated, understand the importance of customer care and are prepared to work at your business, we firmly believe that you will succeed.
Do you offer on-going support once someone has completed the course?
Absolutely, we are only too happy to offer both technical and business support. We recognise that working for your self has many advantages, but that it's also essential to have somewhere to go for help or even just to bounce ideas around.
What skills do I need to become a Plumber?
A good understanding of plumbing theory and practice, which we will provide during the Career Changer course. You will also need the ability to work on your own initiative and a good “customer service” attitude. In addition, plumbing can be a physical job so you will need sufficiently physical ability to undertake the work that a plumber does.
Do I need any specific qualifications to become a plumber?
The simple answer is no - you do not! There are recognised NVQ and City & Guilds levels in plumbing but there is absolutely no requirement for some who wished to set up as a plumber to posses these levels.
Why is the career changer course four weeks long?
During the course we cover plumbing theory, practical plumbing skills and business skills, so there is a lot to learn. However, we belive that the real value of the course is that during the last two weeks you have the opportunity to put all of your skills and experience together in a simulated working environment, and that upon leaving you will have the confidence of knowing that you have produced work to a professional level. It is not really possible to achieve this in less than four weeks.
How many students are on each course?
Our minimum number to run any course is 2 students, but no matter what happens we will never take more than 6 students on any of our courses. Yes, we know there are establishments that have up to fifteen students per instructor, but that's not the way we work.
Is the Tiling Course available as an evening course?
Unfortunately this is not an option at the moment but it is something we are going to be looking at in the New Year.
